Decoy #8 is part of Julia Randall’s “DECOYS” collection, a series of works featuring mystical representations of genetically modified plants as a commentary on the dangers of biotechnical advances and human intervention in the natural world. Violent, scientific images fill the collection, all airbrushed with a sheen of the fanciful. Blending realism and fantasy, Randall’s precise drawings explore humanity’s impact on nature and the futile effort to idolize what is fleeting.
